My studio is surrounded by woodland that joins to the open heath and has a wonderful community feel thanks to the vibrant adjoining café and flower nursery.
For many years I had asked the universe to help me make this happen and thanks to the incredible support I received with a Kickstarter campaign in November 2019 I was able to renovate and repurpose this old building that has had so many lives be it garage, staff room, pizza place and bakery into my sanctuary and permanent studio.
This building is the perfect space with just the right amount of room, a beautiful cafe offering tasty bites next door, my very own kitchen space (necessary in natural dying) and a dedicated loo...very important! but above all this I open the door and within a few steps I am in a woodland that has captured my imagination since the day I discovered it.....
...With glades that brim with scabious and butterflies in the summer months and pathways edged with fly agaric in the autumn. It has always been very important to me that my workshops should have an element of nature and here I can do that in the most magical way.
Think arriving for a workshop with a walk led by myself in the woods discovering nature and then returning to tea, cake (cake seems to feature a lot) a roaring fire and a day spent with needle and wool, natural dyes or paints.
Another aspect is that I have a very small but perfectly formed shop space where I can offer my cards, prints and sculptures but the main focus of this space is my studio, a place I can cycle to and focus without getting distracted by the dishes or the cat (you'd be surprised how much that happens!)
Just imagine a beautifully imaginative space with a ticking clock, old nature journals and fairytale creatures on the walls all with a story to whisper to those who wish to visit on open studio days.
