Having spent the past few weeks living with bumblehogs I find myself learning more and more about their quirks and personalities.
One thing that I have discovered is that bumblehogs have a taste for tea. At first it seemed strange to me but I found out that they dye their wings with hawthorn berries and not wanting to be wasteful they drink the leftovers. One even explained to me that a particular hog let the vat sit tightly for a month or two before consuming but they quickly discovered its best enjoyed fresh as for some reason upon drinking the fermented juice he was unable to fly and spent most of the time singing about how to get home... I do not deny them a small brew but you can imagine my shock when I walked into my kitchen to find a hog trying to make her own. Being quite a headstrong creature and to delicately put it, not the most graceful she had emptied the entire contents of my neatly stored jar into a mug! Her hooves were too slippery for the ceramic surface and I was lucky I found her when I did, the poor dear was clinging to the lip. Heaven knows how she would have poured the boiling water but when I asked her she just huffed and said 'Of course she could, she was just about to manage it.' Such determined little creatures are bumblehogs.
